- Ko Samui town municipality upgraded to a city municipality (เทศบาลนครเกาะสมุย), effective September 14. Some more details on my main blog. The transcript does not give any reason for the upgrade other than that the municipality has enough income and its touristic importance makes the upgrade necessary.
- Pa Tae (เทศบาลตำบลปะแต), Yaha district, Yala province, effective August 31. The TAO was created in 1996, covers 180.99 km², 9 villages and 12,017 citizen.
- Na San (เทศบาลตำบลนาสาร), Phra Phrom district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, effective September 9. The TAO was created in 1996, covers 27.747 km², 7 villages and 9,960 citizen.
- Kamphuan (เทศบาลตำบลกำพวน), Suk Samran district, Ranong province, effective August 31. The TAO was created in 1996, covers 110.08 km², 7 villages and 5,917 citizen.
